First, the armor of God (10-17). The devil is scheming to knock us down and defeat us. We are too weak to stand against him on our own, so we need to be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Using the imagery of a fully armed and suited soldier, Paul tells us how to engage this spiritual battle. These are truth, righteousness, readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, faith and salvation. The sword of the Spirit, the word of God, is our weapon. Each day we need to put on the armor of God. Second, pray that I may declare it fearlessly (18-24). In addition to the armor of God, which bolsters our defense, we are to engage the spiritual conflict through prayer on all occasions. Not only for ourselves, but for all the Lord's people. Especially we pray for gospel message to be proclaimed fearlessly by his servants.
Application: Father, you have provided all I need to be strong and take my stand. Help me put on the armor of God, take up your word, and pray.
One Word: stand your ground
