First, 'let us come before him with thanksgiving' (1-7a). Those who know the Lord as their Rock of salvation are encouraged to sing for joy to him, to come before him with thanksgiving. He is the great God, above all gods. We bow in worship before him, our Maker. We have countless reasons to thank him and sing his praise, as he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, whom he takes good care of. Second, 'do not harden your hearts' (7b-11). In the second half, the Psalmist warns us to hear God's voice, not to harden our hearts, as the Israelites had done. The Lord provided all their needs in the wilderness. Yet they did not thank him. Instead, they tested the LORD, and incurred his wrath. Ingratitude is a great sin.
Application: Father, thank you for taking good care of me. Help me thank you and worship you all my life.
One Word: Worship your Maker with joy
