This chapter reiterates an ancient prophecy of Gog leading a large army composed of many nations against unsuspecting, prosperous, and peaceful people. They are motivated by wicked greed and manufacture wars to get what they want. They represent the evil in the world. Ultimately, they would attack God’s people. When they did so, God himself would come down from heaven in a mighty earthquake that would shake the mountains and all the land. They would have nowhere to run or hide. Then, they will turn against each other. And finally, God would execute his judgment on them through natural disasters one after another.

In this way, God would reveal himself as the Almighty Creator and Holy God to all the nations. Though people reject God and are greedy and violent, God is in control. Our God is great and will give the final victory to his people.
