The queen of Sheba was said to have come a long distance with a very great caravan to personally test and witness the wisdom of Solomon. She was a seeker of wisdom and truth. She could see that a loving God was with Solomon to maintain justice and righteousness. Jesus acknowledged her seeking heart as a virtue that was rare even among the religious elite of his time (Mat 12:42). We all need to step out of our own bubble and realize that the wisdom of God is so much bigger than our own understanding. It is also available to all who earnestly seek him (Heb 11:6).
Solomon held audiences with those around the world to hear the wisdom God put in his heart. While Solomon used his abilities to produce great prosperity, true wisdom provides even more than just earthly riches. Wisdom from God is what feeds our hungry souls and gives light and life to all who receive it. In God’s wisdom, we receive something that no amount of money can afford, the grace and love of God to heal and give eternal joy to our souls.
Application: Lord, help me to seek you and your kingdom first. Give me wisdom from above that satisfies my soul.
One Word: Seek wisdom
