SOLOMON’S PRAYER OF DEDICATION

Date : Dec 01, 2024
Passage : 1Kings 8:22~40
Keyverse : 23

King Solomon dedicated the temple to God with a prayer that acknowledged God’s supremacy and faithfulness. He prayed for God’s continued faithfulness, the forgiveness of the people’s sins, and justice. Solomon also prayed that he realizes God is much greater than the temple, but he still asks that it be a place where God’s presence is felt, and prayers are answered.

Solomon then lists various situations in which a person might be prompted to pray. Solomon’s prayer is a plea for a living relationship between God and man. He recognizes that we make mistakes and experience all kinds of trials and hardships due to sin. In these moments, we need God’s divine guidance and mercy, and we have Jesus who prays on our behalf so that we can pray anytime and be heard by God.
Application: Lord, you are faithful and loving. Thank you for listening to our prayers when we come to you for your wisdom and mercy.
One Word: God is faithful and merciful
