The house of Israel was a rebellious house, refusing to believe what God had said, thinking his words will not come true any time soon (22). God tells them through Ezekiel that Israel will be taken to Babylon in captivity in their lifetimes. Then, they will know that he is the Lord (15).
Our God is sovereign over all things, and, whether in happiness or grief, the job of his children is to praise and obey him who is Lord over all (Job 1:21, 1 Thessalonians 5:18) as Ezekiel did to bear messages from God.
How do our hearts react to the events and happenings in our lives? Are we giving praise and acknowledging that God is sovereign over all things and watches over us? Or do we deceive ourselves with a false sense of security?
Application: Father, thank you for your way of salvation through Jesus. Please help me to acknowledge your sovereignty over all the world, fear you, and live under your grace and protection.
One Word: Know that God is Sovereign Lord
