Peter seriously warns against false prophets, false teachers, and those who are swayed by them.

They will secretly introduce heresies. It will not be obvious, but subtle. Just as Eve was tempted by Satan, if we are not firmly holding on to the word of God and Jesus Christ, we can become vulnerable.

False prophets tell lies and fabricate stories. But in spiritual reality, they are waiting for their own condemnation. Even if God’s remnant is surrounded by such people, God will save like he saved Noah and Lot. But God’s judgment is sure. He did not even spare angels who sinned.

These false prophets heap abuse on celestial beings, they carouse in daylight, and their eyes are full of adultery. If they believed Jesus by leaving the corruption of the world but are entangled with sin again, they are worse off at the end. As believers of Jesus Christ, who were saved by his blood shed on the cross, we should make every effort to turn away from the old sinful ways of life and false teachings.

As we seek Jesus earnestly and dwell in his presence and in his teaching, Jesus will rescue us from the false teaching and entanglement of sins.
