Because the Israelites' sins were so great and there were so many sins, God had to punish them and wound them as he would do to an enemy.

However, it was not the end of the Israelites. God promised to punish those who devoured the Israelites. God promised to restore Israel to health and heal their wounds. And he would bless them and make them prosper.

We were once sinners, deserving God's wrath. But through God's one-sided mercy, he gave us Jesus who healed us and restored us. With this new blessed life, may we be a blessing to the people around us today.
