First, Judas agrees to betray Jesus (10,11). Judas left the house where Jesus had been anointed with expensive perfume. He went immediately to the chief priests and agreed to betray Jesus to them. He agreed to do so for 30 silver coins (Mat 26:15). From that point on, Judas watched for a way he might betray the Son of God into the hands of the religious leaders. Second, the blood of the covenant (12-26). As Judas watched for a way to betray Jesus, Jesus prepared the last Passover meal he would eat with his disciples. While eating the meal, Jesus told the Twelve that he would be betrayed by one who dipped his bread in the bowl with him. But Jesus wasn't afraid. He wasn't defeated. As they continued eating the Passover meal, Jesus thanked God for the drink, drank from the cup and passed it to the Twelve for them to drink. 'This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many.' Jesus willingly gave his body, and willingly poured out his blood in order to save sinners. After this was done, they sung a hymn and went out to the Mount of Olives, where Jesus would be arrested.
Application: Lord, I thank you so much for Jesus, who gave his body and poured out his blood for us all.
One Word: Jesus' poured out his blood for us
