EZRA ARRIVES IN JERUSALEM

Date : Oct 16, 2022
Passage : Ezra 7:1~28
Keyverse : 10

Some years after the temple was constructed, Ezra, a descendant of Aaron, came from Babylon to Jerusalem. Ezra was a Bible teacher. He had the provision and blessing of the king. Ezra came with another group of exiles. He was a man devoted to the study and observance of the word of God-the Law of the Lord. He came to Jerusalem, where the temple worship had been reinstated. God is worshipped when his people hear and obey his decrees and laws.

Ezra returned with a letter from King Artaxerxes. The letter was a blessing for Ezra and all who went with him. The king provided an abundance of material possessions that would assist in the temple service. The letter also decreed protection on the journey. Most of all the king commanded Ezra to teach the word of God to all people who didn't know it, even under penalty of punishment. Ezra could only praise the Lord for his blessing and his faithfulness to provide his word.

Application: Lord, help me to be devoted to your word. Use me like an Ezra in our times.
