After forty years of wandering in the desert, the Israelites were now ready. God told them to turn north, which means start advancing into the direction of the promised land. God had reminded them in verse 7 that everything was provided and God protected them for forty years. Through this training to trust God in the desert, they had seen God's power and his love and his protection. They had not lacked anything.
They simply obeyed God's command and did not start a war with their relatives such as the Edomites, the Moabites, and the Ammonites.
Now, God commanded the Israelites to begin to take possession of the land of the Amorites. God promised to put terror and fear of the Israelites into the hearts of all nations under heaven. He was giving the Israelites the same command from forty years ago to take possession of the land of Canaan. God was not just sending them, but he had also prepared everything for them.
God loves us and provides for us. When he gives us a mission, he gives us all the necessary help. We only need to go and fight by trusting in God's deliverance.
Application: Thank you, Lord, for providing everything we need for our battle.
One Word: Simply trust in God's provision
