1. Do not forget the Lord (10-12)
The Lord would surely fulfill all of the promises he made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The Lord is ever faithful. He would also be faithful to provide for his people, though they did nothing to earn such bounty. But there was a danger that when they were satisfied with all the Lord's good provision, they would forget him, his calling and all that he had done for him. There is no blessing apart from the Lord.
2. Serve the Lord only (13-25)
Moses taught the people to fear and serve only the Lord. He is a jealous God. He brought the nation out of the land of slavery to himself, and he did this so he could be bound in perfect unity to his people. Their heritage was the testimony of the Lord's power and mercy. As long as they obeyed the Lord they would be maintained in this bond. The Lord would be their righteousness.
