Psalm 103 praises the LORD as our loving, merciful Redeemer. This psalm praises the LORD who is also our loving, majestic Creator God. The psalm echoes Genesis 1. The LORD wraps himself with a robe of light. Clouds are his chariot, winds and fire his servants. He made the mountains and set boundaries waters cannot cross.
Fresh water quenches the thirst of all the creatures. Grass feeds the cattle, and diverse plants feeds people. God made wine, oil, and bread. Birds nest in trees, goats in mountain crags. He made the moon and sun for days and seasons. With wisdom, the LORD made all creatures, and they look to God for their food and good things. By God's Spirit, all are created; when he takes away their breath, they die.
The LORD's glory endures forever; he rejoices in his works. I will sing to the LORD all my life as long as I live. May my meditation please God, but may sinners vanish. Praise the LORD!
Application: O LORD God, you are great, for you created all things in heaven and on earth, even me. May I consider your works and wonders, even as I go about my day. Let me not be small-minded, petty, or self-centered but acknowledge the works of your hands. In Jesus' name. Amen.
One Word: O LORD, Creator of all, you are great!
