THE LORD IS WITH ISRAEL

Date : May 29, 2022
Passage : Numbers 23:1~30
Keyverse : 21

Balak thought that if he built altars and offered sacrifices, and if Balaam saw the Israelites from the right view (3,13,27), Balaam would curse Israel. But Balaam could not because God put a blessing in his mouth. Instead of a curse, Balaam saw that God's people were different from people of other nations. Although Balaam knew that God protected Israel, he didn't stop there because of his greed for money. He tried to curse Israel from a different location, but God again commanded him to bless them. He said that the God of Israel should not change his mind like a human being but should bless and be with his people. God's will was to protect his people and to bring them into the Promised Land. What a vain attempt by Balak and Balaam to try to go against God's will!

God's will is constant. No matter how much people try to run, persuade or manipulate, they cannot change God's mind and will. He will faithfully carry out his will and accomplish it. We should not be fools like Balak and Balaam who tried hard to change God's will. Jesus lived and died for God's will humbly and joyfully. Submitting himself to God's will, Jesus died on the cross. We should submit ourselves to God, and embrace what He puts before us, saying to Him, "Let your will be done!"

Application: Lord, thank you for protecting your people faithfully. Help me to submit myself to your will.
One Word: No omens against God's people.
