THE LAST SUPPER

Date : Apr 11, 2022
Passage : Matthew 26:17~30
Keyverse : 28

Jesus knew that he would be betrayed that very evening. Nevertheless, he prepared to have a last meal with his disciples. He told the disciples where to go to make preparations, and they did so. As they reclined to eat, Jesus told his disciples, "One of you will betray me." The disciples were all very sad, and all said to him, "Surely you don't mean me?" When Judas asked him that question, Jesus responded, "You have said so."

Jesus taught two things at the last supper. As he broke the bread and gave thanks, he taught that it was his body, which was broken for the sin of the world. As he drank from the cup, he told them, "Drink this. This is my blood poured out for the forgiveness of sins." After they ate the bread and drank the wine, they sung a hymn. Then they went out to the Mount of Olives.

Jesus willingly gave himself over to betrayal. He gave his body to be broken and his blood to be spilt. He did this for the forgiveness of sins. Because of Jesus' body and his blood, our sins are forgiven.

Application: Father, thank you for Jesus' broken body and his spilt blood. Thank you that because of him, our sins are truly and forever forgiven.
One Word: Jesus bled for our sins.
