1. Approved by God (1-7a)
Paul, Silas and Timothy suffered much while ministering in Philippi (Acts 16) but they did not quit. They moved to Thessalonica (Acts 17) where they courageously proclaimed the gospel despite strong opposition. Some seemed to have questioned their motives or tactics but in every way, they were faultless. Their motive was only to please God, not men. Their lives revealed God's approval upon them and their ministry. God had entrusted them with the gospel. They had proved faithful to that trust.
2. We loved you so much (7b-12)
The apostles loved the Thessalonians so much that they shared everything with them. They did not burden the new believers in any way. Rather the apostles treated them like their own children. They desired nothing more than for them to live lives worthy of God and his calling.
