The LORD is a God of blessing. He commanded Aaron the priest to bless the Israelites. Through the blessing, we can learn about the Lord who blesses, who is the source of all blessing.
First, the LORD blesses us and keeps us. We are his and that is by his choice. The Israelites would disobey, even worshipping idols. They went away from the LORD. But he would keep them, for he is faithful to his calling.
Second, the LORD shines his face on us. His grace shines fully on his people, forgiving the sin of those who come to him. When he turns his face toward us, and when we do likewise to him, we have peace with God, and he keeps us in perfect peace.
The LORD who blesses put his name on these Israelites. He did so in the hope that they would be living testimonies of the LORD who blesses.
Application: Lord, you bless me to know you and have peace. Help me to carry your name to all people so that they may meet the LORD of blessing.
One Word: The LORD bless you and keep you
