In verses 1-2, God again commands them not to bow down to any idol and have no other god before him. He is their one true God. They must worship him by regarding every Sabbath day as holy and doing no work. They must revere the tabernacle, his dwelling place. When they did so, God would do such divine miracles and bless them so highly that the world could not deny that the one true invisible God was with them and they were his people (3-8). God would bless them with rain and fruitful harvest, God would give them safety and peace from packs of wild animals and threats of war from their enemies. One hundred would chase ten thousand, annihilating them with their swords, revealing Mighty God was their Fortress and Shield.
In verses 9-13, God is making a covenant with them as two kings would do. His covenant is akin to his promise in the Garden to bless them and make them fruitful when they obeyed him. Then he will live with them and walk among them as in the Garden. God reveals his motivation that he saved them out of slavery in Egypt to make them a kingdom of priests and a holy nation, who can walk with their heads held high. Are you walking with the Lord with your head held high?
Application: Father, help us to worship you free from idols and live as your covenant people under your blessing and protection with my head held high.
One Word: Walking with God under his blessing and protection with my head held high
