1. Delivered by the blood of the Lamb (1-20)
God would bring terrible judgment on all the gods of Egypt. But through the blood of the lamb he would deliver his people out of slavery in Egypt. This powerful act of God's grace required careful obedience to God's instructions regarding the Lamb. This event reshaped their calendar and would be the defining event of their identity. It was to become a day of great celebration for all generations to come. With a festival, all Israel was to remember yearly that God delivered them from Egypt by the blood of the Lamb.
2.The Israelites obeyed God's command (21-28)
Moses gave clear instructions to the elders to slaughter the Passover Lamb and to apply the blood to the door frames. This lasting ordinance was not only a national holiday; in each family the children were to be told the grace of God through Passover. The people worshiped and obeyed all that the LORD commanded.
Application: Father, you have delivered us by the blood of the Lamb, Jesus. Help me celebrate your one-sided grace and pass it to my children.
One Word: The power of Jesus' blood.
