THE FALL OF KING AHAB

Date : Oct 12, 2020
Passage : 2Chronicles 18:12~34
Keyverse : 13

1. Micaiah's ominous prophecy (12-27)

The prophet Micaiah proclaimed that it was God's will that King Ahab go into battle; not for victory, but to face his own ruin. King Ahab was furious and put him in prison. He also did not take to heart what was said and decided to go into battle regardless. Repentance may have been impossible at this point, but the prophet Micaiah spoke the truth anyway even risking his life.

2. King Ahab killed in battle (28-34)

Even though King Ahab was in disguise, a seemingly random arrow found its intended target. In contrast, God protected Jehoshaphat from the full onslaught directed at him. Our lives are ultimately in God's hands. When standing in the truth of God we may experience many dangers but can expect ultimate deliverance.

Application: Lord, you are the author of our lives. Help us to repent and find peace in doing what is right in your sight and be found by you in our distress.
One Word: Heed the word of the LORD and trust in his deliverance.
