1. Praise the Most High God (1-3)
In chapter 2, King Nebuchadnezzar witnessed the wisdom of God through Daniel who interpreted his dream of a great statue. In chapter 3 the king witnessed the power of God to deliver Daniel's three friends from the fire. God's signs and wonders are great. God's kingdom endures forever.
2. The king's dream of a tree (4-18)
The king dreamt of a great tree with beautiful leaves, abundant fruit, and on it was food for all. What terrified him was that the huge tree was cut down and lost all its glory. The key point of the dream is that the Most High God is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and gives them to anyone he wishes (17). The king asked Daniel to interpret this dream for him.
