1. "Come out of him!" (31-37)
Jesus' teaching had authority. A demon-possessed man in the synagogue yelled at Jesus to "Go away!", knowing Jesus to be the Holy One of God. Jesus rebuked the spirit, "Be quiet! Come out of him!" and the demon came out of him. People were amazed at this kind of power and authority.
2. "I must proclaim the good news" (38-44)
Simon Peter's mother-in-law was sick with fever. Jesus rebuked the fever and it left her. Then she served Jesus' team. At sunset, Jesus healed many more with sicknesses. He also quieted and cast out demons from many. People wanted to hold Jesus in one place, but he was sent to proclaim the good news of God's kingdom all over Israel. So he kept going to other towns to preach.
