1. Josiah renews the covenant (1-14)
The king called all the leaders and people of Judah together to hear the word of the Lord. All the people pledged themselves to the covenant. Then Josiah formally had all the idols removed and destroyed throughout the land of Judah. King Josiah did not just talk. He was a man of action, and under his leadership he awakened the people of God to listen to his word.
2. Even the altar at Bethel (15-20)
Josiah not only cleansed Judah, but he also went to Samaria and destroyed the altar at Bethel that Jeroboam set up to keep the people of Israel from worshiping at Jerusalem. In doing so he fulfilled the prophecy of the man of God who foretold these things.
