1. A son of man, coming in the clouds (1-14)
Daniel had a vision of four beasts: a lion, a bear, a leopard, and one with iron teeth exceedingly strong. But he saw the Ancient of Days on a fiery throne as a judge. The books were opened. The beasts were slain. He also saw a son of man coming with the clouds with authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is everlasting, and his kingdom will never be destroyed.
2. Holy people were given kingdoms (15-28)
God revealed the interpretation. The four beasts are four kingdoms (Babylon, Mede-Persia, Greece, and Rome) (Ch.2). They represent all the earthly kingdoms that rise and fall. Earthly kingdoms are like beasts that become more violent persecuting believers and devouring each other. But the Ancient of Day, God is seated in judgment. The enemies will all be slain. Jesus will come in a cloud. His dominion and kingdom will never end. The holy people will rule with him forever.
