1. Abraham believed and obeyed God (1-8)
Stephen was falsely accused by the Jews about the law and the temple (6:3). But when he spoke, he gave his accusers the good news about what the Lord had done through Abraham. The God of glory appeared to the father Abraham. He had no land or son, but he believed God's word of promise. He accepted God's plan to train his descendants in Egypt for 400 years and come out of her to worship God. He sealed God's covenant with circumcision.
2. God was with Joseph (9-16)
Although Joseph's brothers were jealous of him and sold him into Egypt, God was with him. God gave Joseph wisdom and victory over his circumstances. Through Joseph, God fulfilled his plan for Abraham's descendants to grow into a great multitude in Egypt.
3. God sent Moses (17-38)
After 400 years of oppression, God raised up Moses in the palace, and later in the wilderness he was molded into a shepherd to lead his people for 40 years. He received the living words and passed on to his people (38).
