GOD'S VISION OF THE TEMPLE

Date : Feb 22, 2019
Passage : Ezekiel 40:1~42:20
Keyverse : 40:2

1. Characteristics of the temple.

After exile 25 years, Ezekiel writes his final entry (ch. 40-48). God gives him visions of the temple and Israel's restoration. The details of the temple emphasize its size. It has many gates and walls, is well constructed and secure. On a high mountain, the temple climbs up in three tiers, ascending to the Most Holy Place. Mostly the temple is filled with rooms for priests and facilitates the sacrifices to God - both animals and the table for bread (41:22).

2. What the temple reveals about God

The full reason for this vision was given in the next chapter. But this secure, fully operational temple reveals the faithfulness and holiness of our God. While Israel's temple was destroyed due to their idolatry, God's temple was pristine - no blemish or interruption. The way to know and worship God is maintained by God's faithfulness.

Application: Father, thank you that you are faithful and holy. Help me know you and worship you your way.
One Word: Our God is faithful and holy
