1. Proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection (1-12)
The religious leaders were disturbed that Peter and John were proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead and imprisoned them. Nevertheless, many still believed, so the number of men grew to about 5,000. The next day the two apostles were brought before the same council that had condemned Jesus. They could have been terrified but instead Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit and boldly preached the name of Jesus Christ, whom they had they had crucified but God raised from the dead. Salvation is found in no one else.
2. Shall we obey men rather than Jesus (13-22)
Peter and John were unschooled fishermen from Galilee, but they spoke with such courage, wisdom, and faith. The Sanhedrin was astonished and took note they had been with Jesus. As we spend time with Jesus and his word each day we too can grow into his powerful witnesses. The religious leaders wanted to silence them speaking in Jesus' name, but the apostles asked, "Which is right in God's eyes: to listen to you, or to him?" They could not help but witness to Jesus.
