1. Nadab and Baasha (15:25-34)
The two kings of Israel after Jeroboam were evil, like their predecessor, Jeroboam. Nadab, Jeroboam's son, promoted idol worship. He was struck down just two years into his reign by Baasha. Then he destroyed the whole house of Jeroboam, just as the prophet Ahijah had said. Then Baasha became king. While he reigned for 24 years, he too did evil in the eyes of the Lord.
2. Jehu prophesies Baasha's end (16:1-14)
The word of the Lord came to the prophet Jehu about Baasha. The Lord had raised up Baasha to be king of Israel. But Baasha also caused Israel to sin, just as the other kings had done. So he prophesied the end of the house of Baasha. When Elah, son of Baasha was king, he was killed by Zimri. While Zimri ruled, he destroyed the rest of Baasha's family. When kings did evil things, God's judgment came to them.
