1. The great Babylon (1-6)
The angel showed how God would punish the great prostitute Babylon, contemporary Rome together with all the other kingdoms of this world that cooperate with her doing the same things. She has intimate relations with the beast, sitting on it with seven heads and ten horns and with blasphemous names. She is dressed nobly with fine ornaments. She is drunk with the blood of God's holy people who bore testimony to Jesus. She seems to be triumphant while we believers look so helpless, pathetic before the power of this world.
2. The Lamb will triumph over (7-18)
The beast together with Babylon has one purpose to wage the final war against the Lamb. However, the Lamb will triumph over them because he is the Lord of lords and King of kings and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers. Here we see how God uses even an evil beast to ruin the prostitute who ruled people, multitudes, nations and languages.
