1. The beast out of the sea (1-10)
The red dragon, Satan hires two beasts. The first beast out of the sea represents worldly power like the emperors of Rome. It has exactly the same kind of character as the dragon; ten horns, seven heads and ten crowns on its horns, and on each head a blasphemous name. The beast has a leopard's speed, bear's consistency and lion's cruelty and power. The beast was given power to blaspheme and slander and wage war against God's holy people and to conquer them. All inhabitants, except those whose names have been written in the Lamb's book of life, will worship the beast. The believers really need patient endurance and faithfulness under ungodly worldly governments.
2. The beast out of the earth (11-18)
The dragon's second puppet is the beast that looks like a Lamb but speaks like a dragon. It represents false prophets and deceivers like Nicolaitan and Balaam. They perform signs and wonders. They use a system to force all people to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that those who have no mark may suffer economically for not buying or selling without their password which is 666, the number of a man, which is one less each from the perfect number 7.
