1. Then, Egypt will know... (1-16)
God's word for Ezekiel about Egypt was "I am against you" (3,10). Why was God against Egypt? Because their king and people boasted saying, "The Nile is mine; I made it." (3,9). So they would become a desolate wasteland for 40 years, like a fish in the desert. They would be scattered but brought back as a lowly kingdom, no longer a source of confidence. God wants all people to know he is the Lord, and to trust in him.
2. A reward for Babylon (17-21)
Since Tyre gave little plunder to Babylon, God decided to give the plunder of Egypt to Babylon "because he and his army did it for me." The repeated refrain is "they will know that I am the LORD" (6,9,16,21). What does it take people to learn this truth?
