1. There before me was the glory of God (1-4)
The Lord sent a man to Ezekiel, and in a vision he carried Ezekiel by his hair. The Spirit lifted him up and brought him to Jerusalem. As in the vision before, Ezekiel now stood before the glory of the God of Israel.
2. Things that are even more detestable (5-18)
The Lord now revealed the depth of the corruption of his people. There in Jerusalem, even among the respected elders of the people, there was idol worship. The practice was not just within the walls of the city, but even in the courts, even in the inner court of the house of the Lord, idol worship and sun worship were being practiced. They had turned their backs to God, driving him out of the sanctuary. The Lord promised to deal with them.
