1. The time has come (1-9)
The Lord had been bearing the sins of the people he called for centuries. But there is a day and a time for judgment. The Lord declared that the end had come. It was time for judgment. The Lord would repay his people for their conduct with unheard of disaster. He poured out the full measure of his wrath. They would know that it was the Lord who strikes them.
2. Because of their sins not one of them will preserve their life (10-27)
When judgment came, all the things the people depended on would be useless to save them. Their wealth, power and adornment would have no value. Plague, famine and sword would pursue them without mercy. Even the temple would be defiled, and the word of the Lord become silent. Earthly treasures and position cannot save. Only in the Lord is there life. Apart from knowing the Lord, we only truly know death.
