1. A special relationship with His own (46:27-28)
God spoke words of love to his people. Though they would experience hard discipline, they were not to be dismayed. God promised to bring them back to their land where they would live in peace and safety. How is this possible? It is because the Lord God Almighty was with them. He would discipline them justly, establishing them as his people. God was faithful to love his people.
2. God works in any way he chooses (47:1-7)
Philistia and Israel were at war for centuries. They were a nation that persisted in idol worship. Even though God rebuked Egypt for its pride, he still worked through them to bring judgment on Philistia. God can work in any way he chooses. He is the Sovereign Lord who accomplishes his will.
