1. The Lord is our only Savior (1-13)
To spiritually blind people in captivity, the Lord says, "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you... you are mine." He is our Savior, who is with us in deep waters. He ransomed his people because he loves them. He promised to gather all his remnant, and did so. All of us who have known this only Savior are his witnesses, declaring what he has done. Who can deliver from his hand? Lord, continue to lead out those who have eyes but are blind, who have ears but are deaf!
2. "See, I am doing a new thing!" (14-28)
The power of Babylon will be broken, heralding a new exodus from captivity due to sin to obedience to God. See, God is doing something new! He has opened a new and living way, no longer on the basis of the sacrifices in the past, but blotting out transgressions in Jesus Christ. He remembers our burdensome sins no more through the gospel.
