1. One Lawgiver and Judge (11-12)
Slandering, criticizing or judging our brothers and sisters is a sin. Anyone who misuses the law to judge others is not keeping it but claiming a position that only belongs to God. Only God is both Lawgiver and Judge. He alone can save or destroy. By judging our neighbor, we break the royal law of love (2:8).
2. What is your life? (13-17)
Sometimes we make plans for our life as if we will live forever. We hope to visit various places, to carry on business and to make money. Without God, this is arrogance. We do not even know what will happen tomorrow. Our life is like a mist that appears and then vanishes. It is short and fragile. Our life is in God's hands. Our prayers and plans must deliberately include God and his will for us. Then we can do the good things that God desires from us.
