1. In repentance is your salvation (1-17)
Judah sent envoys with rich gifts to Egypt to get help against Assyria. This was not God's direction, but they didn't want to listen. It was written on a scroll as a testimony against them. They told Isaiah, "stop confronting us with the Holy One of Israel!" They were busy, fleeing on horses, making alliances, finding a way to save themselves. This would come back to destroy them. God's way is repentance, rest, quietness and trust.
2. The LORD longs to be gracious (18-26)
God would rise up to show them compassion. He is a God of justice, in whom we may trust. Those who rest, waiting on God's hand, will be blessed! He will lead us by his still voice: "this is the way; walk in it." He will lead us from idols to his bright light and blessing. Let us rest in the word of the Lord, wait on him, and trust in his justice and compassion.
