1. Praise the Lord for volunteers (1-23)
Deborah composed a song of victory in the Lord. God gave them the victory. Twice she praised the Lord for willing volunteers who fought (2,9). They risked their lives to fight their mighty enemy (18). Deborah arose as a mother in Israel to rally them for the Lord's cause (7). But some tribes shamefully did not join the battle (16-17). The townspeople of Meroz were cursed in song since they didn't help in the Lord's battle (23). May we not be those who do nothing but who join the Lord's work.
2. Jael, most blessed of women (24-31)
Jael fooled Sisera and joined the battle on the Lord's side. Sisera's mother would not enjoy any spoils of war this time. The Lord's enemies will all perish. Those who love the Lord will shine like the sun rising in its strength.
