1. Deborah, the woman judge (1-10)
Israel again did evil and the Lord gave them over to Jabin king of Canaan, and his army commander Sisera who had 900 chariots. They cruelly oppressed Israel for 20 years, and Israel cried out to God for help. Unusually, a woman prophet named Deborah, was leading and judging Israel. She charged Barak to lead the Lord's army with 10,000 men against Sisera's army at Mount Tabor. Barak would not go without her. She agreed but said that the honor of the Lord's victory would go to a woman.
2. The honor went to a woman--Jael (11-24)
On the day of battle, Deborah urged Barak, "Has not the Lord gone ahead of you?" The Lord routed Sisera's army. Sisera fled to the tent of a Kenite woman, Jael, thinking he was safe there. She gave him milk and, while he was asleep, she hammered a tent peg through his head. Deborah's words came true. God used two women who stood on God's side to deliver his people.
