THE DAY OF THE LORD

Date : Sep 28, 2017
Passage : Isaiah 2:5~22
Keyverse : 11

1. The Lord will be exalted (5-11)

God called his people Israel so that they may walk in his light. Instead they abandoned the Lord and turned to idols and superstitions from other cultures and religions. They depended on wealth and chariots for their survival, and these became idols for them. They would be brought low because of their arrogance and pride. But God would not fail to be revealed in splendor and majesty. The Lord alone is worthy, and he alone will be exalted.

2. The Lord has a day in store (12-22).

There is a day reserved for all who are proud and lofty-for anything that is exalted other than the Lord. It will be a dreadful day that men try to flee, a day when their prized possessions and idols are thrown away and worthless. In that day all the things men put their trust in will be of no account. The Lord alone will be exalted in that day. His splendor and majesty will be revealed in all the earth.

Application: Lord, help me not to trust in man or dwell in pride. You alone are exalted. Help me to see your splendor and majesty.
One Word: Exalt the Lord
