1. Appropriate to sound doctrine (1-10)
Sound doctrine must inform how believers live. Titus is to teach all age groups what is appropriate to sound doctrine. The older generation should model self-control, faith, love and godly behavior for the younger generation. As younger men and women matured in faith, their lifestyles will silence critics. Titus' teaching should be so sound that the opposition would be ashamed of themselves. Even slaves could influence their masters to believe in Jesus through a trustworthy life. May our attitudes and actions reflect the gospel and be used to advance God's kingdom.
2. Our lifestyle and hope in this present age (11-15)
God offers salvation to all people. This salvation teaches us to turn away from ungodliness and to a godly life. Our blessed hope is not for the things of this world but for our Lord Jesus to appear again. Jesus redeemed us with his own life in order to purify us and to make us a people eager to do good.
