1. The is altogether lovely (5:2-16)
These verses describe the longing for the "beloved" one. It is descriptive of our longing for Christ. Once we know him as our perfect bridegroom, we long to know him more. He becomes our one true longing, above all else. When we have met his perfect love, then we know that he is indescribably and altogether lovely.
2. I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine (6:1-3)
These verses remind us of the love from which nothing can separate. Though the woman is searching for her beloved, though she has even engaged her friends in the search, she has confidence in love-"I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine." Such is the love of the Lord's own. They trust in his unfailing love and long for its fulfillment.
