1. Remember your creator (1-8)
In these verses, the Teacher urges youths to remember God before the inevitable happens and they get old and feeble, before the days come in their lives when they say, "I find no pleasure in them." Everything has a cycle. There is a beginning and there is an end. Even the moon and stars will one day end their existence (2). When we think of this cycle without God, everything is meaningless. But when we know God is the Creator of all, everything has meaningfulness.
2. Fear God and keep His commandments (9-14)
In these concluding verses, the Teacher urges us to heed the words of the wise, and not to add anything to them. The Teacher's conclusion is to fear God and obey His commandments. That is our duty in this life.
