1. Fools (1-3)
There are many proverbs that describe the folly of a fool. A fool curses good men. But his undeserved curse is ineffective. A fool despises the advice of the wise. He only deserves a rod for his back. We were fools who deserved rods but our Lord Jesus received punishment for our folly to save us. (1 Pet 2:24)
2. Wise in his own eyes (4-12)
We must deal wisely with a proud fool, or our effort to help him becomes worse than useless. He is a fool because he does not listen to the rebuke. To trust a fool is like cutting one's feet. A fool repeats his foolishness as a dog returns to its vomit. He is a fool because he is wise in his eyes.
