1. Commit to the Lord whatever you do (1-3)
People make plans, but God gives the ability to carry them out. God weighs our motives: Do we seek his glory or our own benefit? We must seek his will, for he controls history. We must fit our plans into his great purpose for ourselves and for all creation. We must fear God and humbly commit whatever we do to him. Then he leads, guides, blesses, and does far more than we imagine for his glory (Eph 3:20,21).
2. The Lord works out everything to its proper end (4-9).
The Lord is sovereign over all events and people. He works everything out to its proper end, even the day of disaster (4). The Lord will bring down the proud (5). So, we must humbly depend on his love and faithfulness to take our sins and fear him always, no matter what evil persists (6). Then he will make our enemies make peace with us (7). We learn to be content and trust the Lord in all our ways, for he will surely establish us when we fear him (8-9).
