1. Do not put your trust in men or princes (1-4)
Even men of great power and authority and many good intentions cannot save us. Even though a man wants to be faithful, he cannot. Man is mortal. He must die, leaving all of his good intentions and great plans uncompleted. So those who put their trust in men will be disillusioned.
2. Blessed is he whose hope is in the Lord (5-10)
God is the Maker of heaven and earth and everything in them. He is faithful forever. If our hope is in him and he is our Helper, we are blessed. When does he help? He helps the oppressed and hungry. He sets prisoners free; he gives sight to the blind and lifts up those who are weighed down by the cares and anxieties of the world. He watches over the alien and sustains the fatherless and the widow. He loves the righteous. He helps those who humbly seek him and call on him for mercy.
Application: Lord, my hope is in you; you have opened my eyes and set me free from the prison house of sin and death.
One Word: Hope in the Lord
