1. Those who trust in idols (1-8)
People become like the idols they worship. Those who put their trust in what they can see and touch are idol worshipers. They ask mockingly of God's people, 'Where is their God?' Our God is in heaven and he does whatever he wants to do, but idols made by men's hands cannot speak or see or hear. They can do nothing. Those who make them and those who put their trust in them will be like them.
2. Those who trust in God (9-18)
God is the help and shield of all who fear him and put their trust in him. He blesses those who trust him--small and great alike. The highest heavens belong to him, but he has given the earth to man. He wants mankind to be good stewards of the earth. He wants all his creatures to praise him and glorify his name. He is the living God and he wants us to live and to praise his name both now and forevermore. God blesses those who put their trust in him.
Application: Lord, help me to put my trust wholly in you, and not in any kind of idol.
One Word: To God be the glory
