1. The blessed man (1-9)
The person who fears God loves God's word and obeys his commands. Such a person is blessed. His chidden will be successful and influential; he and they will have spiritual wealth. Sometimes bad news will come, but even in the darkest times, light will dawn. The blessed man is a blessing to others; he is generous and fair, gracious and compassionate. He gives to the poor. Fear of the Lord takes away all other fears and makes the heart secure. This sense of security is a blessing which no money can buy.
2. The wicked see and are vexed (10)
When the righteous man is honored, the wicked will see and be vexed. He will gnash his teeth, but to no avail. The man who abandons God to pursue his own pleasures is wicked. His longings will never be satisfied.
Application: Lord, teach me to delight in your word and walk before you with awesome respect. Thank you for setting me free of fear and giving me your peace.
One Word: Fear God, love his word
