1. In you, Lord, I have taken refuge (1-13)
David was God's anointed servant, but there were times in his life when he was surrounded by enemies. He prayed that the righteous God might deliver him for the sake of God's name. He committed his spirit to God in an act of complete trust (5). Jesus on the cross and Stephen being stoned breathed the prayer in verse 5. God is the God of truth. Idols are Satan's lies. It may seem that Satan and his cohorts win the day, but God's servant loves and trusts God. He rejects the help of all idolaters (6).
2. My God, my times are in your hands (14-24)
God's face shines upon his servant (16). His love is unfailing. His goodness is great (19). He hides his saints in the shelter of his presence (20). The Lord preserves the faithful, but the proud he pays back in full (23). When our times are in his hands, we wait on him in patient trust. Be strong all you who hope in the Lord.
Application: You are my God, O Lord. Let your face shine on me. Hide me in your presence. My times are in your hands.
One Word: My times are in your hands
