First, continue to live in Christ (6-15). After receiving Jesus as Lord we must continue to grow in him. Our faith must be rooted and built up in him overflowing with thankfulness. Once we were deceived by the worldly philosophy. But Christ saved us disarming the powers and authorities triumphing over them by the cross in public. For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form. Once we were dead in our sins that condemned us. But God circumcised us, taking away all legal charges nailing them on the cross. He raised us to live a new life. Second, don't be deceived by empty heresies (16-23). Paul didn't allow the Jewish legalism to judge them for these were shadow of Christ. Their angel worshipping had no connection with the head, God. The Stoicism is nothing but human command and teaching. They lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.
Application: Lord, let us keep growing in Jesus, the fullness of God in bodily form. Help us not to be deceived by the mere human teachings.
One Word: Continue to grow in Jesus
